When I read this chapter I knew that this is an area I need to work on. I pray that God will give me a deep, heartfelt respect for my husband so that I will highly regard him in my attitude, words, and actions.
For me the biggest challenge in showing honor and respect for my husband is in the way I speak and listen to him. I wanted to show respect for him by paying close attention to what he said and then speaking honor to him in my responses. I was able to do this when he spoke of his accomplishments for the day but I did bite my tongue a few times on other issues.

That video made my heart smile….Well, for my part, I got up at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday (very cheerfully I may add too) to drive Tom to the hospital for his tests – he had to be there by 7:30 a.m. When the tests were complete the hospital called me to pick him up at about 3:00 p.m. He was very light headed and quite woozy and he kept asking me to stop at McDonalds because he wanted a Big Mac. The nurse at the hospital told me that Tom could only eat very lightly for 24 hours following the tests. Tom was still “under the influence” of whatever medication they had given him at the hospital and he would NOT stop rambling on and on about how much he wanted a Big Mac …..(not sure why he wanted one as this is not something he would normally ever consider eating) I got him home and settled down – he slept for a while and when he woke up I served him quite a large bowl of chocolate ice cream. This seemed to please him greatly and there was no further mention of a Big Mac….in fact he has no recall of asking for a Big Mac. I wish I could have recorded his ramblings as he does not believe that he would ever request a Big Mac …so I am not sure if I honored him in any way yesterday but he did help me put clean sheets on the bed and he has rarely done this before…I appreciated the gesture ….

The funniest thing about all of this is that all I can think about now is going out for a burger!!

Day 14 & 15 – We did day 14 and 15 together as Dave was in Toronto on Thursday. He returned home on Friday to take me to T.O. so that I wouldn’t have to drive myself. I really appreciated that as it also gave us time together 1 1/2 hours to just talk and listen.

I needed a stand up cross for a group that I am involved with. Dave immediately said that he would craft me one (out 200 yr old wood no less). This was a great way to honor me as this is my passion not his (yet). Needless to say he brought the cross in to me a few minutes ago and it is so beautiful that I could not resist hugging and kissing him (to his delight). In this special moment we honored each other.

Lately, I have been honoring Gemma by showing great appreciation for her cooking. She honors me by allowing me to get rest when I need it.
