Kevin Lawrence Pauls

Birthday – November 10, 1967
Born – Hamilton, Ontario
Currently Live  – Baden, Ontario
Last of 8 Kids

I am a 42 year old man, been married to Wendy for just over 21 years.  We have 3 kids, Lauren (17) Amber (14) and Jordan who is (12).

I am a singer, songwriter and live music producer.  I also have a Music Company, that has a record division, a productions division as well as a publishing division.  I try to balance work, travel and family…

I have been involved in music full-time for 8 years, although I have been traveling and singing for 20 plus years.  Wendy and I went to school 2 weeks after we got married and I studied music there.  Music has always been a huge part of my life and I am so blessed to be able to do something I love so much!

I have just release my 8th CD project, The Spirit Of Christmas and am hoping to release my 9th project TRUE in the spring of 2010.  I have sung in every province in Canada, traveled in the USA and sang a little overseas.  for my full musical bio please goto www.kevinpauls.com

I have a wonderful family, great friends, a solid church family that supports my music and my family.  My kids are serving God and I have to be honest.  The fact that my kids serve God, and are growing in their faith – THAT FACT ALONE, makes my life full!  I don’t care about anything else I could accomplish or any other goal I could attain.  Knowing my daughters and my son follow Jesus is the greatest feeling in the world.

So – who is Kevin Pauls?  I am a follower of Jesus Christ, the wife of Wendy Pauls and the father of 3 great kids, anything else is simply window dressing!

Wendy Pauls

Where was your first job?
At a shoe store in a small, ridiculously unpopulated mall in Kitchener. My manager was a bit of a jerk (I hope he’s reading this ha ha) I actually cried because he got upset when I didn’t sell enough shoe care products. I was transferred to a bigger mall with a WONDERFUL manager soon after. (whew!)

What is your current job?
I am self-employed as a Life Coach, Workshop Leader and Personal Trainer (primarily as a running coach).

What are the 3 skills you require most to do your present job well?

  • active listening (and hearing what isn’t said)
  • championing
  • juggling!! (keeping many balls in the air at once)

What do you love most about your career?
When someone begins to see their potential. Sharing in that moment or any “ahha” moment.

What would you say is your greatest asset?
Empathy

What is something people don’t know about you?
I was just asked this at a group event recently…most people don’t know that I was on the Romper Room show. That’s right, I am a celebrity!!

What is your secret weapon?
I’m quite good at getting what I want…at bargaining and sometimes even manipulating (I’m embarrassed to admit)

Do you have any faults?
I can be a procrastinator… and I struggle to be on time.   (don’t talk to my husband about this – he will just “rub it in”)

What is your best advice?
To err on the side of loving too much and forgiving too much.

What can’t you live without?
Besides my husband and kids…. morning coffee, natural light

If you could try your hand at another career for a year, what would you do?
University or Seminary professor.

What has surprised you most in life?
It’s depth.  More joy than I would have imagined and more pain than I would have imagined

If you were granted one wish…
It would expire before I could decide what to choose.   sigh…

Currently reading?
The Road Less Travelled by M. Scott Peck

Anything you hate?
Hatred itself  (and the ways it manifests)… other than hating sin.

What do you love?
Meaningful, rich relationships… with God, family, friends.  Getting to know people beyond the surface.

What are you most proud of?
My family – I am soooo blessed!

Favourite words of wisdom?
I narrowed it to 3.  That’s the best I could do…

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2)

Live life fully while you’re here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You’re going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don’t try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human.
(Anthony Robbins)

Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” (Epicurus)

Q&A with Kevin & Wendy Pauls

QUESTION

KEVIN’S ANSWER

WENDY’S ANSWER

Biggest pet peeve? About my partner – she is RARELY WRONG!!!
About life in general – customer service for ANY company!!
other drivers on the road. (can’t they just move!!)
The funniest thing about your partner? she is the QUEEN of sarcasm When he gets “hyper” (say with a group of friends or family) he talks louder and louder
Biggest worry about the challenge? i don’t really have any concerns…anything that might be uncomfortable will only help in the end.  I think this challenge will be extremely profitable for our relationship. I haven’t been too worried…should I be?
What do you hope to get out of the challenge? my goal has always been to love Wendy more each day… this can only help me achieve that goal The feeling you get when you share an experience with another person. A bond.
What is something you’ve learned to never say to your partner? “give your head a shake”  She hates that saying! It’s not WHAT I say… it’s HOW I say it (he doesnt’ always appreciate my skills in sarcasm)
what I love about my partner I love having a partner in EVERY aspect of life.  I think I love the concept of doing life together.  Our hour long coffees in the morning – working through out faith together, pushing and pulling each other and becoming more like each other…I know that Wendy has helped mold the  NEW person I am with her.  I love who I am with her in my life!! Lots of things…but primarily how I feel about myself when I am with him – fully loved and accepted.

Your story is very heartwarming however I would think you could have worked in there somewhere that absolutely amazing golf shot you witnessed to help your team win the 2008 Ben Wicks “I.Can Foundation” golf classic.
