Today's Reading: Leviticus 14

Key Verse: Leviticus 14:8

He who is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean. After that he shall come into the camp, and shall stay outside his tent seven days.

In the New Testament, 2 Corinthians 3:14-18 talks about a "veil" that was blinding the minds of the readers of the Old Testament. But that veil is removed by Jesus! Now, when reading the Old Testament, we must read through God's prescription glasses. He has provided that as we look through the Person of Jesus Christ, and we are able to see with new insight and understanding. In yesterday's reading, the priests were given instruction in the detection of leprosy.

Today's chapter deals with the procedures for cleansing and restoration back into the community. Our cleansing today is by the Blood of Christ, according to 1 John 1:7. Restoration into the full fellowship of the Church, after our spiritual leprosy is cleansed, is described in Galatians 6:1-10…that's another great scripture passage to read today.

Lord Jesus, please help us to receive those who turn to You in repentance as You have received us. We need Your cleansing every day, and we thank You and our fellow believers for receiving us into Your Church. Amen!
