Mohawk Bible Translation | National Indigenous Peoples Day
Satewas Gabriel from Kanesatake reserve in Quebec spent years translating the Bible into his Mohawk language. He first felt moved to translate the holy word when he was just 17 years old and heard Mohawk spoken in his church for the first time. Satewas started translating in the evenings and weekends until he retired and could dedicate more time to the project. The Bible is published by the Canadian Bible Society and printed by the United Church of Canada.
