From Homeless to Mayor: The Inspiring Story of Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter

Mayor Carter has a remarkable personal story of overcoming addiction, homelessness, and illiteracy. He was sexually abused as a child, lost his brother in a motorcycle accident, and struggled with alcoholism for many years.

He was homeless for most of his late teens and 20s until his sister Maureen intervened and helped him enter rehab.
