Rescuing food for people who really need it | Harvest Hands food distribution

Harvest Hands is a food distribution hub for food donations sourced and rescued from growers, food processors, bakers, retailers, and community, and church organizations to eliminate hunger and poverty in the southwestern Ontario region. It was founded as a charity in March 2020, by Jim Collins and his daughter Amy out of a church basement. It has grown exponentially and has rescued almost 8 million dollars worth of food. Jim shares the vision, how it started, and his own personal spiritual journey. Joe Amaral also speaks to Karen M. McDade of the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank about the sharp rise of food insecurity in Canada – 1 in 6 Canadians! And we interviewed 4 Harvest Hands volunteers about why they donate their time to help. www.harvesthands.ca
