Gore Park Community Outreach and Collin the Barber
The cost of living crisis is touching so many people in Canada. 44% of Canadians say they are worried about their household’s ability to afford rent or housing. And often we hear about people having to choose between paying their rent or eating. 7 million people in Canada experience food insecurity every year. But so many Canadians are stepping up to help their neighbours in need. At Gore Park in Hamilton, Ontario, Jeffrey Ng got together 5 of his friends and served 35 people in need on Saturday, three years ago. Today, 140 volunteers show up every week to serve more than 800 people. And one person who is serving in that same park is a barber who gives away free haircuts. He says he’s paid in conversation.
